This creamy vanilla mocha iced coffee recipe is quick and easy to prepare with a handful of simple ingredients. Enjoy this refreshing alternative to hot coffee!
Save yourself a trip to the coffee shop on a hot summer day and make delicious cold coffee at home. You can enjoy rich the chocolate flavor of this creamy iced drink in minutes.
What is it?
This vanilla mocha iced coffee is more than just black coffee and ice cubes. Whole milk, chocolate, and vanilla are added to make a creamy drink similar toStarbucks Vanilla Frappuccinos. Although it is worth noting, this recipe is not meant to be an exact replica of that drink. This recipe yields two servings but can be scaled up as much as desired.
Ingredients & Substitutions
- Whole milk - You can substitute your milk of choice, but whole milk will make a creamier iced mocha coffee. You can even use chocolate milk.
- Instant coffee grounds - You can substitute one cup of strong brewed coffee.
- White Sugar- For your mocha iced coffee to taste like your favorite coffee shop, I recommend using all of the sugar called for in this easy recipe, but if you want to make a drink with less sugar you can certainly cut back as much as desired. It will still taste good, it just won't have much sweetness. You can also substitute simple syrup to taste.
- Vanilla extract - Rather than using cane sugar and vanilla extract, you can use this vanilla simple syrup.
- Chocolate syrup - You can substitute cocoa powder or another chocolate sauce like my chocolate coffee syrup.
The flavoring for this cold brew coffee can be customized as well. Caramel would be a nice addition to this iced mocha recipe. Alternatively, you can eliminate the vanilla extract for a pure mocha iced coffee.
How to make it
To make this vanilla mocha iced coffee, simply add the instant coffee and sugar to boiling water to dissolve, give it a good stir, then vanilla and chocolate are added for flavor and stirred with milk for creaminess. Pour in a tall glass over ice cubes and enjoy!
Storing Leftovers
You can make a large batch of this vanilla mocha iced coffee recipe and keep the leftover coffee in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to one week.

Hello Ben. Saw this first published in mid summer 2023 and the first batch was made exactly as you wrote and it was delicious. Have been making it continuously since but cutting the sugar to two tablespoons per recipe suggestion by you. This is so good. Definitely a winner if you like Starbucks FrappuccinoReply

I started making this last week & make them all the time now! I am saving so much money.I didn't use the sugar or the vanilla & it is quite tasty without.
I am far from a coffee expert so thank you for this recipe 🙂

This tastes awesome! I'm hooked. Is there any reason I couldn't make double or triple batch of this to keep in a pitcher in the fridge for the week?

Yes, you absolutely could. I have done it before.

Can you use stevia instead of the sugar?

Yes, but you will have to play around with it. Add a little at a time until it reaches your ideal sweetness.

Hi!! I just made this drink and it was delicious! A couple months ago I started drinking coffee and this is one of the best recipes I've come by 🙂 I did read the part about the sugar and since I am so used to having a sweet tooth and putting a lot of sugar in my coffee I put in just a little bit less than you put and it was very very sweet! I'll definitely put a bit less next time haha! This was really good despite that!

How many ice cubes do you use?

I fill the glass up typically, but whatever amount you want to use is fine as long as it gets the liquid cold.

I can't drink regular brewed coffee, so I make cold brew concentrate to keep on hand. 2 ounces of coffee grounds to 4 cups of water. Let it sit overnight and then strain through cheesecloth. Store in fridge for up to 3 weeks. I use unsweetened almond milk and SF chocolate syrup. Love this!
